Why EU CV passes ATS
Each section label comes directly before its content in the document, so ATS software reads 'Work Experience' followed by your roles, just as with a single-column CV. Dates use the numeric MM/YYYY format common in Europe.
- Single reading order: what you see is what the ATS reads
- No tables, text boxes or text inside images
- Standard section headings recognised by applicant tracking systems
- Fonts embedded in the PDF, so text is selectable everywhere
- Verified by exporting a real PDF and checking the extracted text
Who the EU CV template is for
- Applications in Germany, France, the Netherlands and across the EU
- International candidates relocating to Europe
- EU institutions and programmes
- Multilingual professionals
- Erasmus and research mobility
Tips for filling in EU CV
- 1Give languages a CEFR level (A1-C2). European employers expect it.
- 2State your work permit status clearly if you are not an EU citizen.
- 3A photo is common in some countries (e.g. Germany) and discouraged in others; check first.
Is EU CV the right template for you?
EU CV suits applications in continental Europe, especially where employers are used to the Europass structure. If you are applying in the UK, use UK CV instead, since British employers expect no personal details. If you are applying to an international company in English and want a more universal look, Standard or Clarity with the region set to Europe gives you European date formats without the label column.
