Why UK CV passes ATS
UK recruiters use the same ATS platforms as everyone else. This template keeps a clean single column, conventional British headings that parsers recognise, and your downloads are named 'Name-CV' as UK applicants expect.
- Single reading order: what you see is what the ATS reads
- No tables, text boxes or text inside images
- Standard section headings recognised by applicant tracking systems
- Fonts embedded in the PDF, so text is selectable everywhere
- Verified by exporting a real PDF and checking the extracted text
Who the UK CV template is for
- Applications to UK employers
- Graduate schemes in the UK
- NHS and public sector roles
- International candidates applying to the UK
- UK-based career changers
Tips for filling in UK CV
- 1Write the personal statement in the first person, three to five sentences.
- 2Use British spelling throughout (organise, programme, colour).
- 3'References available on request' is optional. Add it as a custom section if you like.
Is UK CV the right template for you?
UK CV is our choice for British applications, but any template can follow UK conventions: set the region to United Kingdom in the Design tab and photo and date-of-birth fields disappear while downloads are named 'CV'. Pick UK CV when you want headings in British style ('Personal Statement', 'Employment History'). For European applications outside the UK, EU CV with CEFR language levels is the better match.
UK CV template FAQ
Should a UK CV include a photo?
No. UK employers generally advise against photos, date of birth and marital status to avoid bias. This template's UK region hides those fields.
How long should a UK CV be?
Two pages of A4 is the common maximum; graduates usually use one.
